If you're so inclined, we'd really appreciate your rating and reviews!Īnthony and I talk about GRRM's latest book, Fire and Blood, which is a complete and in-depth historical account of the 300 year old Targaryen dynasty in Westeros. Yes! Our book is available in multiple formats, and is currently on sale! Buy it now and treat you or your favorite Thrones fan to a unique, informative, and funny gift. This week's all about Aegon, Maegor, and the third generation Targaryen that really steals the show, Jaehaerys! We talk about the gossipy tone the Maester sometimes takes, the doctrinal concept of "Targaryen Exceptionalism", missing dragon eggs, maester conspiracy theories, and that most well worn Thrones hobbyhorse, incest. Next week we'll be reading up to "The Dying of the Dragons, Rhaenyra Triumphant", before finishing the book the week after. My Gods of Thrones co-author Anthony is back once again as we do a deep dive on GRRM's latest work, Fire & Blood! We talk about events up to but not including "Jaehaerys and Alysanne, Their Triumphs and Tragedies".

Finally, I interview illustrator Chase Stone, who did the cover and interior art for Gods of Thrones, about life as a professional artist, his work on Magic: The Gathering and The World of Ice and Fire, as well as his influences and techniques. Then I welcome our old pal Kim Renfro (follow her on Twitter!) back to discuss women in Westeros, our theories on Game of Thrones and GRRM himself. Anthony and I get things kicked off with a discussion of Lord Cregan Stark and his "Hour of the Wolf". If you’re going to assert your theories as absolute fact, try not to be so bitter about it when people challenge those theories. We're back with a super-sized wrap up episode for our coverage of our new book, Gods of Thrones, as well as putting George's Fire & Blood to bed as we consider the final third of the book, starting with "The Dying of the Dragons: Rhaenyra Triumphant". (PS – Putting a vague “maybe” before your authoritative statements doesn’t really help. Sure he was killed by yeti darth maul, but it’s been proven that he can touch Bran while he’s in a vision. Just a linear timeline in which impossible things occasionally happen.Īlso, did anyone ever physically touch the three-eyed-raven? Bran doesn’t have to warg into anyone, if he can just hang out in the werewood-net projecting images of himself as an impossibly old man back into the past. So no alternate dimensions, no terminator fanfictions. So when Bran messes him up by sending his consciousness into the future to die, all he’s doing is something that had already happened. Hodor mysteriously had a fit when he was young, and spent the rest of his life semi-mute. Nedry Stark hears a voice call to him in the first book, so when Bran is later able to get Nedry to acknowledge his voice all he’s doing is something that had already happened. Yes, it’s a causality loop, and no, recognizing a causality loop does not invalidate the entire thing.Įvery time Bran is able to affect something, all he does is something that had already happened in his native time-period. (See “the ink is dry” speech.) Meaning that the only things Bran can affect when he goes back in time, is stuff that he already affected in the same way. It does a fairly good job of establishing that in this story, time is linear. Just because there’s time-travel does not mean that everything is everything else.
